| Dress: c/o August Wrinkle Kimono: Rue 21 Cardigan: Target Heels: Payless Beanie, Bangles, & Shades: Philippines |
I'm having fun playing with my darker palette this winter. This dress from August Wrinkle has turned out to be one of my favorite items. Ever. The deep burgundy (or maroon, oxblood, whatever you want to call it) color is perfect! One of the best ways to wear a dress for colder weather is by layering. Here I've mixed in a floral print underneath my cardigan to create an even more eye-catching look. Its simple but still adds that extra tidbit that makes a look interesting. Topped with a beanie and some aviators, I felt pretty set to face the day.
College life has been good. I'm just soaking in everything from my different classes, and having a blast in my Pilates and Zumba classes. The only problem I have is with the scheduling of Zumba...I have my Psychology class right after, so I always arrive a hot, sweaty mess. On Tuesday I was out of breath as I collapsed into my desk and the guy I sat down next to looked at me sort of funny before asking if I'd just run over or something. The look of utter confusion and amusement on his face was priceless.
Oh, and get this, he's a cute guy who's also in my Photography class that has a tendency of smiling real big at me whenever we bump into each other. So I'm sure he really appreciated my dripping brow and stench of deodorant that day. Sigh. I have got to invest in some cuter workout gear...
I've come to the conclusion that our community college is just too small though. Coming from a private school, I'm used to small numbers...but seriously, I feel like I see the same faces every day. What most annoys me though is the same outfit I see on every girl. Everyday. It is a variation of this: leggings/sweats/over-embellished skinny jeans + branded hoodie + uggs or boots. Really ladies? I know its cold outside, but everyday? Come on now. Don't leave me walking around in dresses alone! Fleece-lined tights are just as warm as jeans - in fact, I find them warmer.
PS: Don't forget, the international MsDressy giveaway is still going on here!

A good pair if tights is lot warmer then leggings- if I was in college with you I would be in your gang.
Beautiful dress I love the flash of floral.

I love fleece lined tights and winter florals! I went to a small Liberal Arts school (Gettysburg College) for my Freshman and part of my sophomore year, and transferred because of that exact way-too-small feeling! And the whole uggs with black legging and pearls thing... haha!
Fabulous outfit, i love your hat, you have a great blog, want to follow each other ? Let me know !

Besides the really beautiful darker toned outfit - I am loving those aviators, they suit you so well! The floral scarf is so pretty...I am certain you are the most stylish girl ever to be seen in the history of your campus.

Love your floral scarf and I've been loving darker palettes this winter as well! I'm excited for softer palettes for spring though!
Awh, nice post Linda! Thanks for chewing out those lazy gals in their ugly uggs. Keep being an example to them with your awesome style. I love where these photos are taken. Really cool!
That dress is such a beautiful color, it really suits you. I love that you still wear dresses and get dressed up for school, at least you stand out.

Think of it this way: you stand out in a sea of those mono-styling girls, earning you the attention of all the men! (Including the cute guy in your photography class!) Think you could sneak a picture of him and show us? ;) hahaha!!
I really do love your layering technique! That pop of flowers is so feminine and cheery!

Love the darker shades of this outfit!
Plus it's good you bump into the guy after your workout - means you know he wouldn't be turned off if you ended up with a date scheduled after a zumba class....haha! ;)

You are so ridiculously cute and cool looking in a beanie hat, especially with your new bangs! I love how your style is a mix of sweet items like floral dress with really tough items, it seems very personal and that's really cool! (I get you on the dresses in winter, I think everyone just feels like it's too much work to wear a dress in the cold or that dresses are too fancy. And yeah, fleece-lined tights are so much warmer than skinny jeans made with really thin fabric.)
that is a true autumn ensemble in my eyes :P it just feels like autumn when I look at it. and of course I like it, especially your dress and those booties. oh and those sunnies are pretty much perfect for you!

Did I comment on this? I can't remember. I'm getting old and now I'm starting to forget things. Maybe I just commented in my head...
But anyway, I love these pictures, Linda! Especially that one of you crouched by the road. Too neat. Those aviators are quite boss on you. Yes, boss. THEY ARE BOSS. You are boss. I am totally using that word to describe your outfit!
&& Haha, I'm sure he likes you in your workout gear. ;) He likes a woman dedicated to his health! ROLL TIDE LINDA. ROLL TIDE.
love the beanie you added to the outfit, super cute!
Oh goodness, yes-most college students do just wear the same uniform every day. Probably because they stay up all night and just roll out of bed in whatever. That's why I started my blog when I was in college- to keep me from doing that! haha.
Buying new workout clothes totally helped me to stay motivated this winter! I actually want to work out because I feel cute in them, haha-stinks to have to go to class right afterword though!!
Also, the floral scarf here was such a lovely addition-the colors seem to go perfectly well together and that burgundy is a stunning color on you!
i like the hat, I need to do a blog post wearing one of the million winter hats I own x
